Do You Qualify?
About a minute is all it takes to find out. There are four questions.
You Likely Qualify!
So far your answers fit the basic lemon law test. An attorney has to confirm it from the repair orders, and we handle cases on a contingency basis, which means no attorney’s fees unless we recover for you.
You May Not Qualify Under Standard Lemon Law
Your answers do not fit the standard lemon law test, but other consumer protection laws might still apply. Contact us anyway.

Corpus Christi Lemon Law Basics
Texas's lemon law, Tex. Occ. Code §2301.601 to §2301.613, is the one that applies in Corpus Christi. It covers new motor vehicles purchased or leased in Texas for personal, family, or household use (also covers towable recreational vehicles), and you may have a claim once your repair orders reach one of the repair limits in the box above, as long as the defect is still there and you are inside the deadline. Our Texas Lemon Law Attorneys page has the full statute text, the filing deadlines and the used-car rules.
How a Corpus Christi Lemon Law Claim Works
This is what happens after you call us from Corpus Christi.
Document Your Repairs

We read your repair history against the Texas statute and tell you whether the car qualifies. The review costs nothing, and there are no attorney's fees unless we recover for you.
We File the Claim
We write and send the paperwork, including any written notice to the manufacturer that TX law requires. We deal with the manufacturer for you.
You Get Compensated
The case ends with a refund, a replacement vehicle or a cash settlement. There are no attorney's fees unless we recover for you.

Does the Defect Substantially Impair Use, Value, or Safety?
Under Texas law, the defect has to substantially impair the vehicle's use, value, or safety. These defects came up in one of Easy Lemon's own Texas cases:
- ⚠️2024 Cadillac Lyriq: Recurring blank display/IPC screen
- ⚠️2024 Cadillac Lyriq: Autonomous emergency braking in rain
- ⚠️2024 Cadillac Lyriq: A/C compressor bracket twisted
- ⚠️2024 Cadillac Lyriq: ABS warning and battery discharge
Have You Met the Repair Attempt Threshold?
In Texas the test is 4 repair attempts for the same defect (or 2 for serious safety defects), or 30 cumulative days out of service, as long as the claim is brought within the deadline in step 3. For a defect that could cause serious bodily injury or death, 2 repair attempts are enough. Count the visits on your repair orders to see where you stand.
Did It Happen Within the Rights Period?
In Texas the deadline is 6 months after the earliest of the express warranty expiration or 24 months/24,000 miles from original delivery. We check it against the delivery date on your contract and the dates on your repair orders.
If you are not sure about your dates, call us. The consultation is free. 📞 (855) 435-3666
If you are past the deadline, call us anyway. We may still be able to help.
Court and Venue in Corpus Christi
Parts of Corpus Christi lie in Aransas County, Kleberg County, Nueces County and San Patricio County, per the 2020 Census. A Texas lemon law claim starts as a complaint to the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV), not as a lawsuit. For a warranty suit filed in court, district courts are the general trial courts in Texas, and the Texas Office of Court Administration lists numbered district courts: 3 for Aransas County, 1 for Kleberg County, 8 for Nueces County and 3 for San Patricio County. County courts at law can share that civil jurisdiction. Which court hears a particular case still depends on its facts, the warranty issues involved and the law it is brought under.
The Texas lemon law is Tex. Occ. Code §2301.601 to §2301.613. TxDMV cannot order a refund or replacement unless the manufacturer received written notice of the defect and a chance to cure it (Tex. Occ. Code §2301.606(c)). The complaint must be filed with TxDMV, which holds a hearing.
The repair test in the statute is 4 repair attempts for the same defect (or 2 for serious safety defects), or 30 cumulative days with the vehicle out of service. The statutory remedy is a replacement vehicle or full refund (minus reasonable use offset).

Texas Lemon Law: The Rules That Decide a Corpus Christi Claim
We covered the repair test, the arbitration rule and the deadline in the Court and Venue section above. Below are other Texas rules that can matter to a Corpus Christi claim.
Notable provisions of Texas Lemon Law
Texas uses a state-administered complaint process through TxDMV (not traditional arbitration). Only 2 repair attempts needed for serious safety hazards. Texas also covers towable recreational vehicles (RVs). The TxDMV filing fee is $35, and the other side pays it back if the consumer wins.

What The Manufacturer Owes You
The Texas statute provides for replacement vehicle or full refund (minus reasonable use offset), and a qualifying TX case from Corpus Christi usually ends in one of these three ways.
Refund
You hand back the car. In return the manufacturer repays the price, the taxes, the registration fees and the finance charges, with a reasonable use offset taken out.
Replacement Vehicle
You leave with a comparable new car. The manufacturer pays for the swap.
Cash Settlement
You keep the car, and the manufacturer pays you for the value the defect took off it. This result is not listed in the statute and comes from negotiation.
