Do You Qualify?
About a minute is all it takes to find out. There are four questions.
You Likely Qualify!
So far your answers fit the basic lemon law test. An attorney has to confirm it from the repair orders, and we handle cases on a contingency basis, which means no attorney’s fees unless we recover for you.
You May Not Qualify Under Standard Lemon Law
Your answers do not fit the standard lemon law test, but other consumer protection laws might still apply. Contact us anyway.

How your Connecticut claim gets built
Our lemon law work is directed by Steven P. Nassi, Esq., Managing Partner, Easy Lemon by RockPoint Law P.C. A Connecticut claim gets built on two things: the Connecticut lemon law statute, and the federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, which applies in all fifty states. Send the repair orders and the purchase or lease paperwork, and we can tell you which of the two fits your vehicle.

Hamden Lemon Law Basics
A Hamden car is judged against Connecticut's statute, Conn. Gen. Stat. §42-179, and that law covers new motor vehicles purchased or leased in Connecticut for personal, family, or household use. So the first question is coverage, and the second is whether your repair orders reach one of the repair limits in the box above. If they do, and the defect is still there and the deadline has not run out, you may have a claim. The statute text, the filing deadlines and how used cars are treated are all on our Connecticut Lemon Law Attorneys page.
How a Hamden Lemon Law Claim Works
This is what happens after you call us from Hamden.
Document Your Repairs
Keep every repair order from your Hamden dealership, even the short ones. CT lemon law needs written proof of each repair attempt, and those papers are the proof.
Free Case Evaluation
We read your repair history against the Connecticut statute and tell you whether the car qualifies. The review costs nothing, and there are no attorney's fees unless we recover for you.
We File the Claim
We write and send the paperwork, including any written notice to the manufacturer that CT law requires. We deal with the manufacturer for you.
You Get Compensated
The case ends with a refund, a replacement vehicle or a cash settlement. There are no attorney's fees unless we recover for you.
Is Your Hamden Car a Lemon? Connecticut's 3-Step Test
Does the Defect Substantially Impair Use, Value, or Safety?
Under Connecticut law, the defect has to substantially impair the vehicle's use, value, or safety.
Have You Met the Repair Attempt Threshold?
In Connecticut the test is 4 repair attempts for the same defect (or 2 for serious safety defects), or 30 cumulative calendar days out of service, as long as the claim is brought within the deadline in step 3. For a defect that could cause serious bodily injury or death, 2 repair attempts are enough. Count the visits on your repair orders to see where you stand.
Did It Happen Within the Rights Period?
The Connecticut lemon law does not set its own deadline to sue, but defects must be reported within 2 years or 24,000 miles from original delivery, whichever is earlier. We check it against the delivery date on your contract and the dates on your repair orders.
If you are not sure about your dates, call us. The consultation is free. 📞 (855) 435-3666
If you are past the deadline, call us anyway. We may still be able to help.
Court and Venue in Hamden
Hamden is in New Haven County, but Connecticut assigns civil cases by town, not county. The Judicial Branch's town list places Hamden in the New Haven Judicial District of the Connecticut Superior Court, the state's trial court for civil cases. Which court hears a particular case still depends on its facts, the warranty issues involved and the law it is brought under.
The Connecticut lemon law is Conn. Gen. Stat. §42-179. The claim must go through the state-run arbitration program of the Department of Consumer Protection.
The repair test in the statute is 4 repair attempts for the same defect (or 2 for serious safety defects), or 30 cumulative calendar days with the vehicle out of service. The statutory remedy is a replacement vehicle, full refund, or monetary damages. The court may award a consumer who prevails costs and reasonable attorney fees.
Open recalls on your vehicle can be checked against NHTSA records at easylemon.com/recalls. A recall alone is not a lemon law claim.

Connecticut Lemon Law: The Rules That Decide a Hamden Claim
Beyond the repair test, the arbitration rule and the deadline, which are all in Court and Venue above, Connecticut law has some provisions of its own.
Notable provisions of Connecticut Lemon Law
Connecticut has a state-run arbitration program (not manufacturer-run). Only 2 repair attempts needed for defects that could cause death or serious injury. Also covers leased vehicles.

What The Manufacturer Owes You
The Connecticut statute provides for replacement vehicle, full refund, or monetary damages, and a qualifying CT case from Hamden usually ends in one of these three ways.
Refund
You hand back the car. In return the manufacturer repays the price, the taxes, the registration fees and the finance charges.
Replacement Vehicle
You leave with a comparable new car. The manufacturer pays for the swap.
Cash Settlement
You keep the car, and the manufacturer pays you for the value the defect took off it.
