Do You Qualify?
About a minute is all it takes to find out. There are four questions.
You Likely Qualify!
So far your answers fit the basic lemon law test. An attorney has to confirm it from the repair orders. We handle cases on a contingency basis, which means no attorney’s fees unless we recover for you.
You May Not Qualify Under Standard Lemon Law
Your answers do not fit the standard lemon law test, but other consumer protection laws might still apply. Contact us anyway.

How your Kentucky claim gets built
Our lemon law work is directed by Steven P. Nassi, Esq., Managing Partner, Easy Lemon by RockPoint Law P.C. A Kentucky claim gets built on two things: the Kentucky lemon law statute, and the federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, which applies in all fifty states. Send the repair orders and the purchase or lease paperwork, and we can tell you which of the two fits your vehicle.

Louisville Lemon Law Basics
The law that applies in Louisville is Kentucky's lemon law, Ky. Rev. Stat. §367.840 to §367.846, and it covers new motor vehicles purchased or leased in Kentucky for personal use. You may have a claim if your repair orders reach one of the repair limits in the box above while the defect is still there and you are inside the deadline. The statute text, the filing deadlines and the rules on used cars are on our Kentucky Lemon Law Attorneys page.
How a Louisville Lemon Law Claim Works
This is what happens after you call us from Louisville.
Document Your Repairs
Keep every repair order from your Louisville dealership, even the short ones. Under Kentucky's lemon law, those papers are the written proof of each repair attempt.
Free Case Evaluation
We read your repair history against the Kentucky statute and tell you whether the car qualifies. The review costs nothing, and there are no attorney's fees unless we recover for you.
We File the Claim
We write and send the paperwork, including the written report of the defect to the manufacturer that Kentucky law requires. We deal with the manufacturer for you.
You Get Compensated
A successful case usually ends with a refund, a replacement vehicle or a cash settlement. There are no attorney's fees unless we recover for you.
Is Your Louisville Car a Lemon? Kentucky's 3-Step Test
Does the Defect Substantially Impair Use, Value, or Safety?
Under Kentucky law, the defect has to substantially impair the vehicle's use, value, or safety.
Have You Met the Repair Attempt Threshold?
In Kentucky the test is 4 repair attempts for the same defect or 30 cumulative calendar days out of service, as long as the claim is brought within the deadline in step 3. Count the visits on your repair orders to see where you stand.
Did It Happen Within the Rights Period?
In Kentucky, a claim must be filed within 2 years after the date of original delivery of the vehicle to the buyer. We check that deadline against the delivery date on your contract and the dates on your repair orders.
If you are not sure about your dates, call us. The consultation is free. 📞 (855) 435-3666
If you think you are past a deadline, call us anyway. We may still be able to help.
Court and Venue in Louisville
Louisville is in Jefferson County. Jefferson County's general civil trial court is the Jefferson County Circuit Court, part of the 30th Judicial Circuit. Kentucky also has a lower court for smaller civil claims, so the amount in dispute can change where a case is filed. Which court hears a particular case still depends on its facts, the warranty issues involved and the law it is brought under.
The Kentucky lemon law is Ky. Rev. Stat. §367.840 to §367.846. If the manufacturer's arbitration program is state-certified, the consumer must use it.
The repair test in the statute is 4 repair attempts for the same defect, or 30 cumulative calendar days with the vehicle out of service. The statutory remedy is a replacement vehicle or a full refund, minus a reasonable offset for use. The court may award reasonable attorney fees to a plaintiff who prevails.
Open recalls on your vehicle can be checked against NHTSA records at easylemon.com/recalls. A recall alone is not a lemon law claim.

Notable provisions of Kentucky Lemon Law - Motor Vehicle Warranty Act
Kentucky's coverage window is 12 months or 12,000 miles. The buyer must report the nonconformity to the manufacturer in writing. Motor homes, motorcycles, and substantially altered vehicles are excluded.

What The Manufacturer Owes You
Kentucky's statute lists a replacement vehicle or a full refund, minus a reasonable offset for use. In practice, a qualifying Louisville case usually ends in one of three ways, and the cards below explain each.
Refund
You return the car. The price comes back to you, and so do the taxes, the registration fees and the finance charges, after a reasonable use offset is taken off.
Replacement Vehicle
You trade the defective car for a comparable new one, and the manufacturer pays what the swap costs.
Cash Settlement
The car stays with you, and the manufacturer pays for the drop in value the defect caused. The statute does not provide for this. It comes out of negotiation.
