2024 BMW X5 Repair History: What the Repair Orders Show

Visit 1: September 25–October 18, 2024

  • The owner dropped off the vehicle and arranged their own transportation.
  • A complimentary multi-point inspection was completed.
  • Diagnostic work showed a drivetrain malfunction caused by faulty injectors in cylinders 5, 6, 7, and 8.
  • The technicians replaced the injectors, coils, plugs, and performed several tests including smoke, misfire, and mixture control calibrations.
  • The intake pressure sensor was swapped, oil and filter changed, and all faults were cleared.
  • After multiple road tests totalling about 175 miles, no warning lights appeared, and all systems tested normal.

  • Performed diagnostic tests, swapped known good plugs, and completed multiple road tests.
  • After replacing spark plugs in cylinders 6 and 7, all faults were cleared and fuel adaptations reset.
  • The vehicle was road-tested again, and no shaking or drivability problems were present.

Visit 3: November 24–26, 2025

  • The owner reported that the CEL is on.
  • Technicians found misfire faults on all bank 2 cylinders caused by faulty fuel injectors, so they replaced all bank 2 spark plugs along with the fuel injectors for cylinders 5, 6 and 7.

Common Questions

2024 BMW X5 Lemon Law Questions in New Jersey

How does New Jersey lemon law apply to a BMW X5?
The New Jersey Lemon Law (N.J. Stat. §56:12-29 to §56:12-49) uses a standard of 3 repair attempts for the same defect (or 1 for serious safety defects), or 20 cumulative calendar days out of service. Remedies: Replacement vehicle, full refund, or cash settlement. Written warranties are also covered nationwide by the federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act.
What was the settlement amount for this 2024 BMW X5?
A vehicle buyback totaling $112,587. Part went to our client, part paid off the lender, and the rest covered attorney fees. Results may vary. Prior outcomes do not guarantee a similar result.
How is a buyback different from cash and keep?
With a buyback, the manufacturer takes the vehicle back, pays off the loan or lease and refunds the owner, minus any use allowance the state allows. With cash and keep, the owner keeps the vehicle and gets a cash payment.
What does it cost to bring a BMW lemon law claim with Easy Lemon?
There is no upfront fee. Lemon law fee-shifting statutes generally make the manufacturer pay the attorney fees. In this case, part of the attorney fees came out of the settlement.
