2025 Mercedes-Benz EQE 350 Repair History: What the Repair Orders Show
Visit 1: January 9-29, 2026
- After driving for about 30 minutes, the owner stopped the vehicle and returned after five minutes to find a steering malfunction message, with the steering wheel locked and the car unable to restart.
- A few hours later, the vehicle worked again.
- The issue was caused by undervoltage at the steering rack due to a software error in the EZS during ignition start.
- The technician connected XENTRY and a battery maintainer, performed a quick test, and found fault code B210F1B indicating a malfunction in input "Circuit 30." Battery data showed no excessive drain during the park cycle.
- The software for the EZS control unit was updated and fault codes were deleted. A function test confirmed that the steering system now works correctly.
Visit 2: March 2-April 7, 2026
- The owner reported experiencing the same power steering issue as before.
- After driving to work early in the morning, they returned to the car around lunchtime and saw malfunction messages including "Active Brake Assist Functions Limited" and "Steering Malfunction Increased Physical Effort." The warnings remained until about 3 PM, when they disappeared and the steering returned to normal.
- During inspection, the vehicle operated as designed with no faults found.
- Multiple test drives totalling about 80 miles showed no issues.
- Diagnostics with XENTRY revealed no fault codes related to steering, software was up to date, battery data was normal, and all wiring and ground connections were secure with no signs of damage.
- Load tests and Flex Ray inspections confirmed circuits were functioning properly.
Visit 3: April 16-May 1, 2026
- The owner reported that the same steering issue occurred again immediately after receiving the vehicle, with a message appearing that read “Steering Malfunction, Increased Physical Effort See Operator’s Manual,” just like in previous visits.
- Inspection revealed that the battery ground cable had a poor connection at the chassis ground stud, causing intermittent excessive resistance during startup.
- Initially, no warning messages were present, but fault code B210F1B was stored in the system.
- Guided testing and software updates were performed, including updates to the electric steering rack.
- After extended testing, the fault was replicated, and further inspection showed the ground stud on the firewall had a loose connection with arc damage.
- The ground cable was replaced, and after repairs and startup testing, the steering system operated normally with no further malfunctions.
