Our client purchased a 2025 Audi A5 in Arizona (intake purchase / lease date: 07/2025). Documented repair history describes a check engine light, a trunk that would not open all the way with multiple malfunction lights on the dash, intermittent vehicle shutoffs addressed with a software update to the KD2, an MMI language change to Spanish that required a control module reset and factory reset, a loud clicking noise coming from the engine, a vehicle that sometimes shuts off when preparing to leave, fans and/or engine remaining on after the vehicle is turned off, a driving dynamics system malfunction warning appearing intermittently, a trunk that does not open automatically at times, and an alarm that goes off when the vehicle is off, locked, and someone remains inside the passenger seat. Current mileage on the odometer: 5,757. Intake also flagged that the car was in the repair shop for more than 30 days at any time: No.

What Went Wrong
- Check engine light: Check engine light was on.
- Trunk / malfunction lights / shutoff: trunk reportedly would not open all the way; multiple malfunction lights on the dash; vehicle also reportedly would turn off sometimes; technicians performed a software update to the KD2; a recall was also performed to inspect the left & right rear seat belts.
- MMI language change to Spanish: language will reportedly change to Spanish intermittently without touching anything; hard reset on the MMI had an error; technicians went into 005F in the scan tool and performed a control module reset, then performed a factory reset in the MMI.
- Engine clicking / hard running / fans stay on: loud clicking noise coming from the engine; vehicle seems to be running hard; fans and/or engine remain on after turning the vehicle off; car sometimes shuts off and must be powered on again.
- Driving dynamics / trunk / passenger-seat alarm: driving dynamics system malfunction warning appears intermittently; trunk also does not open automatically at times and must be opened manually; alarm goes off when the vehicle is off, locked, and someone remains inside the passenger seat.
What the Documented Service Visits Showed
July 3–8, 2025 — Check Engine Light
Check engine light was on.
January 13–14, 2026 — Trunk, Malfunction Lights, Intermittent Shutoff
The trunk reportedly would not open all the way, and the vehicle had multiple malfunction lights on the dash. Technicians performed a software update for this issue. The vehicle also reportedly would turn off sometimes. Technicians performed a software update to the KD2 for this issue. A recall was also performed during this visit to inspect the left & right rear seat belts.
February 24, 2026 — MMI Language Change to Spanish
The language will reportedly change to Spanish intermittently without touching anything. They then tried to perform a hard reset on the MMI, however there was an error. They then went into 005F in the scan tool and performed a control module reset, then performed a factory reset in the MMI.
March 20, 2026–Present — Engine Clicking, Shutoffs, Driving Dynamics, Trunk, Alarm
The customer reports a loud clicking noise coming from the engine that is noticeably louder than other models. They also state that when starting the vehicle and preparing to leave, the car sometimes shuts off and must be powered on again. Additionally, the customer notes the vehicle seems to be running hard, and the fans and/or engine remain on after turning the vehicle off. The driving dynamics system malfunction warning appears intermittently on the dashboard. The trunk also does not open automatically at times and must be opened manually, which has been a prior issue. Lastly, the alarm goes off when the vehicle is off, locked, and someone remains inside the passenger seat.
