A 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee With Recurring CV Axle Noise and Hybrid System Warnings
Our client leased a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee in North Carolina on May 27, 2023. Documented service history describes a clicking noise in the front passenger area tied to front CV axles with excessive movement/play in the joints, a recurring service hybrid electric vehicle service warning with a red wrench (with no permanent fix available at the time), a driver’s side blowing hot air concern, and a faulty right front axle with the CV joint binding up and grinding. The client contacted Easy Lemon for legal assistance under the lemon law.
“A clicking noise in the front passenger area as reported. Technicians noted the RF CV axle feels like it is running smoothy or as smooth as LF causing a popping.” Service notes continue: “Technicians found both front CV axles to have excessive movement/play in the joints at the entry point to the trans/trans axle.” Later: “A service hybrid electric vehicle service warning with a red wrench came on. Technicians noted that Chrysler engineering is aware of the issue and are working on a fix; no permanent fix available at the time.” On a subsequent visit: “Technicians found a faulty right front axle and can feel the CV joint binding up and grinding.”
What Went Wrong

- Hybrid system warning: service hybrid electric vehicle service warning with a red wrench; Chrysler engineering was aware of the issue with no permanent fix available at the time; the hybrid battery service light recurred on a later visit.
- HVAC / driver-side heat: driver’s side was blowing hot air (technicians were unable to duplicate; noted HVAC may have been set to auto).
- Faulty right front axle / grinding: faulty right front axle; CV joint binding up and grinding during a sharp turn; same parts previously replaced placed on backorder again.

October 6–11, 2023 (6 Days) — Front CV Axles Excessive Play / Backorder
