2024 Mercedes Benz C Class Lemon Law Case Study: Florida
A 2024 Mercedes-Benz C-Class With No-Crank, CEL, and Engine/Transmission Noise
Our client purchased a 2024 Mercedes-Benz C-Class in Florida (intake purchase / lease date: October 24, 2024). Documented repair history describes a vehicle that reportedly won’t crank to start, an intermittent check engine light (CEL), a loud noise from the engine/transmission at low speeds, a turbocharger replacement that did not resolve the issue, and a dealership recommendation that the engine is to be replaced as per the advice of Mercedes-Benz. Current mileage on the odometer: 8,966. Intake primary problem category: Engine/ Transmission.
The summary of repairs further states that after the turbocharger was replaced the issue remained, and that the client was then told the engine is to be replaced. With those engine and transmission defects documented across the service visits described below, the client contacted Easy Lemon for legal assistance under the lemon law.
What Went Wrong
- Won’t crank to start: “The vehicle reportedly won’t crank to star.” (intake summary phrasing; no-crank condition documented on the November 2024 visit.)
- Intermittent CEL: “The CEL was reportedly on at times.”
- Loud engine/transmission noise at low speeds: “there is a loud noise from the engine/transmission at low speeds.”
- Turbocharger replaced; issue remained: the client states they were told by the dealership that the turbocharger needed to be replaced, which was then performed, however the issue remained.
- Engine replacement recommended: the client states they were then told by the dealership that the engine is to be replaced as per the advice of Mercedes-Benz.
What the Documented Service Visits Showed
November 12–13, 2024: Won’t Crank / Sent to Cutler Bay
The vehicle reportedly won’t crank to start. No work was performed for this issue; however, a note indicates that the vehicle was sent to Cutler Bay and was picked up on December 4, 2024.
April 14, 2026–Present: CEL / Loud Noise / Turbocharger / Engine Replacement Advice
The CEL was reportedly on at times, and there is a loud noise from the engine/transmission at low speeds. No cause or correction was documented in the open repair order as repairs are still ongoing; however the client states that they were told by the dealership that the turbocharger needed to be replaced, which was then performed, however the issue remained. The client then states that they were now told by the dealership that the engine is to be replaced as per the advice of Mercedes-Benz.
Vehicle Buyback Secured
Easy Lemon secured a Vehicle Buyback settlement for our client, the strongest outcome in a lemon law case. Under a buyback, the manufacturer repurchases the defective vehicle, and our client paid nothing out of pocket† for legal representation.
