Parts of Shreveport lie in Bossier Parish and Caddo Parish, per the 2020 Census. Their general civil trial courts are the 26th Judicial District Court (Twenty-Sixth Judicial District) for Bossier Parish and the 1st Judicial District Court (First Judicial District) for Caddo Parish. Louisiana allows 45 calendar days out of service, not the 30 common elsewhere. The consumer must report the nonconformity and make the vehicle available for repair within the warranty term or the first year, whichever ends earlier. The manufacturer keeps a final attempt to cure but waives it by failing to respond in time. Vehicles rated 10,000 GVW or above are excluded.

What The Manufacturer Owes You

Louisiana's statute lists replacement vehicle or full refund (minus reasonable use offset). In practice, a qualifying Shreveport case under LA law usually ends in one of three ways, and the cards below explain each.

Refund

You return the car. The price comes back to you, and so do the taxes, the registration fees and the finance charges, after a reasonable use offset is taken off.

Replacement Vehicle

You trade the defective car for a comparable new one, and the manufacturer pays what the swap costs.

Cash Settlement

The car stays with you, and the manufacturer pays for the drop in value the defect caused. The statute does not provide for this. It comes out of negotiation.
