Do You Qualify?
Four questions will help you find out in about a minute.
You Likely Qualify!
Your answers meet the basic lemon law test. Before anyone can confirm that your car qualifies, an attorney has to see the repair orders. We work on a contingency basis, and there are no attorney’s fees unless we recover for you.
You May Not Qualify Under Standard Lemon Law
The standard lemon law test does not seem to fit. Other consumer protection laws may still help with a car like yours. Contact us anyway.

How your Louisiana claim gets built
Our lemon law work is directed by Steven P. Nassi, Esq., Managing Partner, Easy Lemon by RockPoint Law P.C. A Louisiana claim gets built on two things: the Louisiana lemon law statute, and the federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, which applies in all fifty states. Send the repair orders and the purchase or lease paperwork, and we can tell you which of the two fits your vehicle.

Gretna Lemon Law Basics
Louisiana's lemon law, La. Rev. Stat. §51:1941 to §51:1948, is the one that applies in Gretna. It covers new motor vehicles purchased or leased in Louisiana for personal, family, or household purposes, and you may have a claim once your repair orders reach one of the repair limits in the box above, as long as the defect is still there and you are inside the deadline. Our Louisiana Lemon Law Attorneys page has the full statute text, the filing deadlines and the used-car rules.
How a Gretna Lemon Law Claim Works
This is what happens after you call us from Gretna.
Document Your Repairs
Keep every repair order from your Gretna dealership, even the short ones. LA lemon law needs written proof of each repair attempt, and those papers are the proof.
Free Case Evaluation
We read your repair history against the Louisiana statute and tell you whether the car qualifies. The review costs nothing, and there are no attorney's fees unless we recover for you.
We File the Claim
We write and send the paperwork, including any written notice to the manufacturer that LA law requires. We deal with the manufacturer for you.
You Get Compensated
The case ends with a refund, a replacement vehicle or a cash settlement. There are no attorney's fees unless we recover for you.
Is Your Gretna Car a Lemon? Louisiana's 3-Step Test
Does the Defect Substantially Impair Use, Value, or Safety?
Under Louisiana law, the defect has to substantially impair the vehicle's use, value, or safety.
Have You Met the Repair Attempt Threshold?
In Louisiana the test is 4 repair attempts for the same defect, or 45 cumulative calendar days out of service, as long as the claim is brought within the deadline in step 3. Count the visits on your repair orders to see where you stand.
Did It Happen Within the Rights Period?
In Louisiana the deadline is 3 years from the date of purchase or 1 year from the end of the warranty period, whichever is longer. We check it against the delivery date on your contract and the dates on your repair orders.
If you are not sure about your dates, call us. The consultation is free. 📞 (855) 435-3666
If you are past the deadline, call us anyway. We may still be able to help.
Court and Venue in Gretna
Gretna is in Jefferson Parish. Jefferson Parish's general civil trial court is the 24th Judicial District Court, part of the Twenty-Fourth Judicial District. Which court hears a particular case still depends on its facts, the warranty issues involved and the law it is brought under.
The Louisiana lemon law is La. Rev. Stat. §51:1941 to §51:1948. If the manufacturer's informal dispute program substantially complies with federal rules (16 C.F.R. Part 703), the consumer must use it first.
The repair test in the statute is 4 repair attempts for the same defect, or 45 cumulative calendar days with the vehicle out of service. The statutory remedy is a replacement vehicle or full refund (minus reasonable use offset). A consumer who wins a judgment is entitled to the reasonable attorney fees actually incurred.
Open recalls on your vehicle can be checked against NHTSA records at easylemon.com/recalls. A recall alone is not a lemon law claim.

Louisiana Lemon Law - New Motor Vehicle Warranty Rights Act: The Rules That Decide a Gretna Claim
Some Louisiana rules sit outside the repair test, the arbitration rule and the deadline, which you can find under Court and Venue above. Those other rules are here.
Notable provisions of Louisiana Lemon Law - New Motor Vehicle Warranty Rights Act
Louisiana allows 45 calendar days out of service, not the 30 common elsewhere. The consumer must report the nonconformity and make the vehicle available for repair within the warranty term or the first year, whichever ends earlier. The manufacturer keeps a final attempt to cure but waives it by failing to respond in time. Vehicles rated 10,000 GVW or above are excluded.

What The Manufacturer Owes You
Under the statute, the remedies open to Louisiana drivers are replacement vehicle or full refund (minus reasonable use offset). If your Gretna car qualifies under LA law, the case usually ends in one of the three ways below.
Refund
You return the car and the manufacturer pays back the price, taxes, registration fees and finance charges, minus a reasonable use offset.
Replacement Vehicle
The manufacturer replaces the car with a comparable new one at its own cost.
Cash Settlement
You keep the car and receive a payment for its lost value. That payment is negotiated. The statute does not list it.
