Do You Qualify?
About a minute is all it takes to find out. There are four questions.
You Likely Qualify!
So far your answers fit the basic lemon law test. An attorney has to confirm it from the repair orders. We handle cases on a contingency basis, which means no attorney’s fees unless we recover for you.
You May Not Qualify Under Standard Lemon Law
Your answers do not fit the standard lemon law test, but other consumer protection laws might still apply. Contact us anyway.

How your Tennessee claim gets built
Our lemon law work is directed by Steven P. Nassi, Esq., Managing Partner, Easy Lemon by RockPoint Law P.C. A Tennessee claim gets built on two things: the Tennessee lemon law statute, and the federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, which applies in all fifty states. Send the repair orders and the purchase or lease paperwork, and we can tell you which of the two fits your vehicle.

Knoxville Lemon Law Basics
The law that applies in Knoxville is Tennessee's lemon law, Tenn. Code §55-24-101 to §55-24-112, and it covers new motor vehicles purchased or leased in Tennessee for personal, family, or household use. You may have a claim if your repair orders reach one of the repair limits in the box above while the defect is still there and you are inside the deadline. The statute text, the filing deadlines and the rules on used cars are on our Tennessee Lemon Law Attorneys page.
How a Knoxville Lemon Law Claim Works
This is what happens after you call us from Knoxville.

We File the Claim
We write and send the paperwork, including the written notice to the manufacturer by certified mail that Tennessee law requires. We deal with the manufacturer for you.
You Get Compensated
A successful case usually ends with a refund, a replacement vehicle or a cash settlement. There are no attorney's fees unless we recover for you.
Is Your Knoxville Car a Lemon? Tennessee's 3-Step Test
Does the Defect Substantially Impair Use, Value, or Safety?
Under Tennessee law, the defect has to substantially impair the vehicle's use, value, or safety.
Have You Met the Repair Attempt Threshold?
In Tennessee the test is 3 repair attempts for the same defect or 30 cumulative calendar days out of service, as long as the claim is brought within the deadline in step 3. Count the visits on your repair orders to see where you stand.
Did It Happen Within the Rights Period?
In Tennessee, a claim must be brought within 6 months after the later of the express warranty term expiring or 1 year from original delivery. We check that deadline against the delivery date on your contract and the dates on your repair orders.
If you are not sure about your dates, call us. The consultation is free. 📞 (855) 435-3666
If you think you are past a deadline, call us anyway. We may still be able to help.
Court and Venue in Knoxville
Knoxville is in Knox County. Knox County has its own Circuit Court. Which court hears a particular case still depends on its facts, the warranty issues involved and the law it is brought under.
The Tennessee lemon law is Tenn. Code §55-24-101 to §55-24-112. If the manufacturer's arbitration program is state-certified, the consumer must use it.
The repair test in the statute is 3 repair attempts for the same defect, or 30 cumulative calendar days with the vehicle out of service. The statutory remedy is a replacement vehicle or a full refund, minus a reasonable offset for use. Under the statute, a consumer who prevails can recover attorney fees from the manufacturer.
Open recalls on your vehicle can be checked against NHTSA records at easylemon.com/recalls. A recall alone is not a lemon law claim.

Tennessee Motor Vehicle Warranty Enforcement Act: The Rules That Decide a Knoxville Claim
Some Tennessee rules go beyond the repair test and the arbitration rule covered under Court and Venue above. Those other rules are here.
Notable provisions of Tennessee Motor Vehicle Warranty Enforcement Act
Tennessee requires 3 repair attempts, or 30 cumulative calendar days out of service, within the term of protection — the express warranty or 1 year from delivery, whichever comes first. Written notice to the manufacturer by certified mail is required, after which the manufacturer has up to 10 days to cure. Tenn. Code ch. 55-24 provides no reduced-attempt route for safety-related defects.

What The Manufacturer Owes You
The Tennessee statute provides for a replacement vehicle or a full refund, minus a reasonable offset for use, and a qualifying case from Knoxville usually ends in one of these three ways.
Refund
You hand back the car. In return the manufacturer repays the price, the taxes, the registration fees and the finance charges, with a reasonable use offset taken out.
Replacement Vehicle
You leave with a comparable new car. The manufacturer pays for the swap.
Cash Settlement
You keep the car, and the manufacturer pays you for the value the defect took off it. This result is not listed in the statute and comes from negotiation.
