According to the documentation, the SL 43 returned to an authorized Mercedes-Benz service center for four documented repair visits in 2025 for the same recurring concern. Technicians ran diagnostics that produced fault code P030001 indicating a combustion misfire, confirmed misfires on cylinders #3 and #4, and repeatedly replaced spark plugs and, later, all of the fuel injectors — yet the misfire returned. Four Documented Repair Visits Could Not Permanently Fix This SL 43
May 19 – June 4, 2025 — Combustion Misfire Detected
The check engine light was on and the customer concern was confirmed. Diagnostics returned code P030001 indicating a combustion misfire. Spark plugs and ignition coils were tested and found fine; after swapping coils and plugs and test driving, the misfire returned on cylinders #3 and #4. Further inspection was performed on the charge air system.
May 29 – June 4, 2025 — Check Engine Light Returns
The check engine light came back on. The technician checked power supply voltage, inspected the engine, and verified fuel pressure and internal sealing. Spark plugs were replaced and compression pressure was measured before the engine was reassembled.
August 14 – 19, 2025 — Fuel Injectors Replaced
The vehicle returned again with the check engine light on. The technician replaced the spark plugs and all fuel injectors, checked fuel pressure and internal sealing, and performed a quick test before returning the car to service.
September 29 – October 7, 2025 — Misfire Still on Cylinder #4
Diagnostics again showed engine misfires, with cylinder #4 showing a misfire and a fouled spark plug. The spark plug in cylinder #4 was replaced and the codes were cleared. A slow crank was also noted at startup and the 12-volt battery light was on, prompting an additional quick test.
