Rivian R1T Lemon Law Case Study
Overlapping Battery, Body, and Electrical Defects on a New Rivian R1T
Our client purchased a new Rivian R1T electric truck from Rivian, LLC in Florida. From the time of delivery, the vehicle exhibited multiple overlapping defects across its electrical, body, and battery systems, requiring four documented contacts with Rivian over approximately three months. The defects included significant battery drain, vehicle shaking, unresponsive key cards, body panel gaps, seat malfunctions, and incorrectly applied paint.
Documented Repair Visits
December 26, 2024
Battery dropped from 85% to 36% after driving fewer than 80 miles. The vehicle was shaking at highway speeds. Both key cards were unresponsive.
January 14–30, 2025 (16 days)
The front driver-side corner of the frunk lid had a large gap. The vehicle was shaking while driving. The driver's seat was not exiting the comfort-entry position approximately 15% of the time when placed in Park or driven. A rattle was coming from the passenger-side headrest. Since delivery, the battery had been draining approximately 3% overnight when parked with A/C off, requiring charging to 90–100% every few days to stay above 20%. The vehicle could not reach 170 miles on a full charge before dropping below 20%.
February 28, 2025
The auxiliary air compressor door was found missing a rubber stop.
March 18, 2025 – Present
Paint work was performed incorrectly — metallic paint was applied on a vehicle originally finished in non-metallic paint. The shop also failed to address seat concerns and claimed no diagnostics were run on the reported problems. No repair order was provided for this visit.
