Case Overview

Persistent Water Intrusion and Body Defects on a New Chevrolet Corvette

Chevrolet Corvette lemon law claims in Florida are covered under Chapter 681, Florida Statutes. When a vehicle requires multiple repair attempts for the same defect and the manufacturer cannot provide a permanent fix, the owner may be entitled to a cash settlement — at no cost. Easy Lemon recovered $105,233 for this client.

Our client purchased a new Chevrolet Corvette from Morgan Chevrolet in Florida with only 3 miles at delivery. Almost immediately after purchase, the vehicle developed persistent water intrusion and body integrity defects requiring four dealer visits over approximately seven months — with the dealership ultimately indicating it could not further resolve the water leak.

Documented Repair Visits

1

December 9–31, 2024 (23 days)

Water was found in both headlamp assemblies. A seat belt would not retract. A scratch was present on the lower part of the driver door panel. No repairs were performed during this visit — the repair order was closed to meet year-end deadlines.

2

January 8–30, 2025 (23 days)

The vehicle was returned for the same issues. The dealer found no moisture in the headlamps after washing the vehicle and could not replicate the seat belt concern. The door scratch was not addressed. A sticking armrest button was diagnosed as a faulty latch assembly — the actuator inside the center console lid was replaced.

3

April 15 – May 3, 2025 (19 days)

Water was leaking into the cabin. The dealer replaced the windshield in an attempt to fix the leak. The water problem persisted after the repair.

4

May 13 – June 20, 2025 (39 days)

The vehicle was returned for continued water leakage. The dealer replaced the seal. An email dated June 18 confirmed the leak remained after the seal replacement. The dealer offered our client the option to pick up the vehicle or leave it at the dealership — signaling no further repair attempts would be made.

  • Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act eligible: Federal warranty protection provided additional remedies.
💡 Zero Cost to the Client: Under Florida's Lemon Law and Magnuson-Moss, Chevrolet was required to pay Easy Lemon's legal fees upon successful resolution. The client paid $0 out of pocket.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Do Chevrolet Corvette sports cars have water leak problems?
The Corvette's design — with its distinctive body panels, low profile, and performance-oriented construction — can present challenges with water sealing, particularly around the windshield and headlamp assemblies. Some Corvette owners have reported persistent water intrusion issues that proved difficult for dealerships to resolve conclusively.
What happens when a dealer says it cannot fix my car?
When a dealership acknowledges it cannot resolve a defect — by offering to return an unrepaired vehicle or stating no further attempts will be made — this is strong evidence for a lemon law claim. The manufacturer's inability to repair the vehicle is the core legal basis for lemon law protection.
Does Florida lemon law cover a Corvette with 104 cumulative shop days?
Yes. Florida's Lemon Law is triggered when a vehicle has been out of service for 30 or more cumulative days. At 104 cumulative shop days on a vehicle with only 2,000 miles, this was a strong lemon law case. The fact that the dealer indicated it could not further repair the water leak strengthened the case further.
How does Easy Lemon handle high-value Corvette lemon law claims?
Easy Lemon has experience resolving lemon law claims on specialty and performance vehicles including the Chevrolet Corvette. Our attorneys handle all aspects at no cost to you. GM pays attorney fees upon a successful resolution, meaning your full recovery comes directly to you.
